ETHERNET TRANSPORT SERVICE (ETS) enables our customers to connect their business locations together over our Metropolitan Area Network (MAN as if they are on the same Local Area Network (LAN).

Our flexible service offering allows for Provider assigned VLANs and/or Customer assigned VLANs .  ETS is offered with 1Gbps, 10Gbps and 100Gbps Ethernet User Network Interfaces (UNI) and is available with Committed Information Rates (CIRs) or capacity in increments starting at 5 Mbps.   ETS is available in one of the three network architectures set forth below.

Independents Fiber Network offers E-LINE, E-LAN and E-TREE services compliant with the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) standards.

E-LINE service is a point-to-point, private-line Ethernet service that connects 2  sites together through a User Network Interface (UNI) port as each location. These 2 sites can only communicate with one another.

E-LAN services are appropriate when all User Network Interfaces (UNIs) can generate traffic towards any other UNI and all UNIs belong to the same administrative domain or same organization.  ELAN is a consideration when a customer requires connectivity between 3 or more sites.

E-TREE services are appropriate when the service source is located at just one User Network Interface (UNI), or a small number of UNIs, each of which is designated a root UNI. The end-users of the service are typically client organizations that require that their respective traffic will not be visible to other clients of the service.   E-TREE is a consideration when a customer requires connectivity between 3 or more sites.


MPLS Services


MPLS is used to extend the Ethernet domain and connect your remote sites or POPs. You can apply these services in a pure metro Ethernet domain without MPLS, MPLS is used to expand over your L3 networks through L2VPN technologies.  MPLS is ideal in allowing Independents Fiber Network as your Single Point-of-Contact to connect sites back to the Customer’s Hub or PoP that are located outside of Independents Fiber Network’s extended reach Ethernet-over-Fiber network.
